The Fathered Son

The earliest memory you’ll have
Will likely be of an emotion,
One you’ll strive to piece together
As you live out your devotion.
But it won’t be clear at first
Since it won’t make sense.
Yet, remember to be still
When sincerity fails to recompense.
Enjoy your innocence,
As much as you can.
Life will be waiting,
To replace what you have planned.
Yet, humble your demeanor,
For life is but fair.
Treat kindly your neighbor,
You know not of their despair.
Pain will come
I guarantee you this.
Stand firm in your faith,
For light shines brightest in the abyss.
Don’t succumb to evil utterances of you
Even when it hurts deeply within.
Their words are just a reflection
Of the pain caused by others' sin.
As a man, misunderstood you will be,
No escape is from this reality.
But elevate your countenance,
Not everyone is gifted with impartiality.
Be strong and courageous,
For you must protect the weak.
Be more so wise and of good judgment,
Forbid your heart from becoming bleak.
A wife of noble character,
Who can find?
If you find her,
Cherish her like a rare, fine wine.
A man’s worth is measured not by his many offspring,
Lest he be forgotten for his lack of presence.
But his legacy resonates
When his children guard his lasting essence.
With adversities, your days shall be filled,
For this is the plight of man.
But woe to you, my son,
If you fail to withstand.
Heed the words
I leave you with today:
“Dear son, rejoice,
The Son we shall meet one day.”

Your poem is so beautifully written, it’s both a prayer and a legacy. Your an anamazing man of God and captured what it really means to be a man of faith, humility, strength and leadership. It’s so moving!! I love you!!
