Think About What You Think

My first blog post was about a sensitive topic in our culture. I felt it important to give my opinion on it since it is in every social and news media outlet; and has been as far back as I can remember.
I asked you to consider the issue from an unpreferred perspective for public discussion. This really means that the Christian perspective is an increasingly unpopular approach to have when offering an opinion on pop culture’s frontline issues. But this was not my primary reason for writing about it.
The average person goes about their life without questioning their beliefs or biases. Think about your upbringing. For most people, the way they think and perceive the world is based on their life experiences. And some overcome bad life experiences by choosing to change the way they think. But for most, this isn’t the case.
Pain is a reality of life. We know what it is. It does not take one to have prior ontological knowledge about pain to know pain is real. The pain I’m referring to is not the one you feel when you hit your pinky-toe on the edge of a piece of furniture. The pain I refer to is an emotional one. The one that usually comes from anger, disappointment, or even worst, hate and resentment. This is the pain to look out for. It is the one that leads to self-destructive thinking.
So, how do we minimize the effects of life experiences that have hurt us, to prevent us from lingering in self-destructive thoughts?
More specifically, how many even know they have a choice in how they think (despite all the pain they’ve gone through)?
As unpopular as this may sound, life isn’t promised to us to be easy and fun. Simultaneously, it does not mean we sit back and let bad things happen. But the “fight back” mentality must be done right. But before is done right, one must have the right way of thinking. And to think righteously, one must understand OBJECTIVE TRUTH. And if, by definition, truth is objective, then where do we find it? Think about it. The answer to this may be what truly sets us free.
